What’s Your Next Move?
What are you afraid of?
There are plenty of answers. Heights. Spiders. Getting hurt. Rejection.
But underneath so many of our fears is something even deeper: uncertainty.
We don’t know what will happen with our health. Our finances. Our relationships. Our jobs. Our country. Our future.
And when we don’t know where we’re going, uncertainty can leave us paralyzed.
Or sometimes, it does the opposite.
We get busy.
Our calendars fill up. Our kids have activities. Work gets demanding. Goals pile up. We’re constantly moving.
We’re moving. But where?
Whose Vision Are You Following?
Having a vision for your life isn’t enough.
You can have goals, spreadsheets, a five-year plan, and a clear picture of where you want your life to go. But there’s still a bigger question:
Is your vision God’s vision?
Our culture is constantly offering us competing pictures of the good life.
Success.
Money.
Career.
Politics.
Comparison.
Influence.
Comfort.
Even the things we consume every day can quietly shape what we believe a good marriage, successful career, meaningful life, or healthy church should look like.
But Jesus didn’t save us simply to give us a better version of the life we had already planned.
He saved us and invited us into His mission.
Jesus Already Gave Us the Vision
Vision Sunday isn’t about inventing something new.
Jesus already gave His Church the mission in Matthew 28:19-20: make disciples.
At Phoenix Bible Church, we say it this way:
Love Jesus.
Live like Jesus.
Lead others to Jesus.
Discipleship simply means following Jesus and helping other people do the same.
It isn’t one ministry among many at PBC. It’s the whole thing.
Sunday sermons are discipleship.
Worship is discipleship.
Community Groups are discipleship.
Kids and Youth are discipleship.
Serving is discipleship.
Move to One relationships are discipleship.
Everything should help us follow Jesus and help someone else follow Him too.
God Moved First
But this mission doesn’t begin with everything we need to do for God.
It begins with what God has already done for us.
“We are imperfect people moved by the perfect love of Jesus.”
Romans 5:8 reminds us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God knew exactly who He was saving.
He knew our sin.
Our failures.
Our distractions.
Our habits.
Our fears.
Our weaknesses.
And He moved toward us anyway.
Jesus gave Himself for imperfect people, and through those same imperfect people, He chose to build His Church.
There is no Plan B.
What Does Movement Look Like?
At PBC, we want to create environments that help people grow through three movements:
Devotion to Jesus.
Community with one another.
Mission to the world.
We gather because we want our lives to be devoted to Jesus.
We pursue community because discipleship was never meant to happen alone.
And we live on mission because what God pours into us was always meant to pour out through us.
We’ve already seen God do incredible things through ordinary people taking faithful steps.
Marriages restored.
156 baptisms since PBC and Bethany Bible Church came together.
People across generations meeting together and studying Scripture.
Around 120 people intentionally walking through Move to One discipleship relationships.
People opening their homes.
People sharing their faith.
People moving from consuming to contributing.
These stories aren’t meant to simply make us clap.
They’re invitations.
So, What’s Your Next Move?
Maybe you’ve been attending church but you’ve never joined a community.
Move.
Maybe God has poured into you for years and it’s time to start pouring into someone else.
Move.
Maybe you can open your home.
Move.
Maybe you need to serve, give, invite someone to coffee, join a study, or begin intentionally following Jesus with another person.
Move.
You don’t need to know every step that comes next.
Phoenix Bible Church began with a small group of people praying together on red carpet without knowing exactly what God would do.
They simply took the next faithful step.
And God was faithful.
He still is.
God moved toward us first.
Now the question is:
