PBC Care groups

PBC Care Groups exist to help people find biblical encouragement, practical support, and meaningful community in some of life’s most difficult seasons. These groups create spaces where people can be honest about what they are walking through and find support from others who understand.

Whether someone is navigating trauma, caring for vulnerable children, or supporting a loved one through substance misuse, the heart of Care Groups is simple: you don’t have to walk through it alone. Through trusted resources, trained or experienced leaders, and supportive community, our hope is to help people take meaningful steps toward healing, hope, and wholeness.

At Phoenix Bible Church, we believe care happens best when people are willing to walk alongside one another; this is one way Love Moves.

PBC Care Groups

Who is it for?

Mending the Soul is a unique support group ministry for women who have experienced trauma and/or abuse of various kinds and continue to deal with the painful residual effects of those experiences, possibly even after counseling or other treatment.

What can I expect?

The Mending the Soul curriculum sets the standard for integrating biblical foundations and research-based approaches to healing from the trauma of abuse.

Groups include up to four women, plus facilitators. Group members choose an evening of the week that works for everyone to meet. Each session is two hours long.

The curriculum includes 10 chapters of material, but groups may take up to 14 weeks to complete the program.

When does it meet?

Sessions begin twice each year:

  • Early to mid-September through December

  • Late January through mid-May

Group Leaders

Kathy Runte and Susan Nusall both experienced God’s healing through this program and now feel called to walk alongside other women on their journey.

What Does PAL Do?

PAL provides free, evidence-based weekly support meetings designed by treatment and recovery professionals to help parents navigate a loved one’s substance misuse.

Each session combines:

Education: Practical tools and strategies, including learning how to support rather than enable.

Peer Support: A compassionate space to share experiences, challenges, and successes with others facing similar situations.

Through this dual approach, PAL fosters emotional and physical well-being for parents while helping families experience positive, lasting change.

What Makes PAL Different?

While many free resources exist for families navigating substance use, PAL stands out through its combination of evidence-based practices and structured peer support.

As a trusted program featured globally, from TIME and Money to international media across Japan, Israel, Germany, and Spain, PAL empowers parents to share lived experiences and practical tools for healing.
