We encourage you to set aside a few minutes this evening with family or friends to consider the coming of Jesus.
Lighting of the Advent Candle
Have one person light 4 candles, remembering together what you’ve learned over the last 4 weeks during Advent & our series, “Waiting on God”.
Scripture Reading & Christ Candle
Have one person read Luke 2:1-20 out loud. After reading, have another person light a fifth candle—the Christ candle, reminding us that as we celebrate Christmas, we have moved from “Waiting on God” to “God with Us”.
Song
Sing or listen to “Silent Night”. Then focus on the 2nd & 3rd verses, discussing briefly what you learn about Jesus.
Silent night, holy night
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born! Christ the Savior is born!
Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord at thy birth. Jesus, Lord at thy birth.

Prayer
Gracious God, tonight we remember that you gave us your Son, the Lord of the universe, wrapped in swaddling
clothes. On this night, we ask that you join our voices with the heavenly host, that we may sing your glory on high. Give us a place among the shepherds, that we may find the one for whom we have waited, Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.
Prayer for 2018
As we move into 2018, my prayer is that you become more rooted & grounded in the love of Christ (Eph 3:17). I pray that you would take a next step in deepening your love for Jesus through learning, serving, giving, or leading.
As I pray for you, I’d love to hear your prayer for 2018. You can write just a few words or phrases & turn it in during the offering on Sunday, December 31st or email it to info@phoenixbiblechurch.com. I love you & can’t wait to see what God has in store for 2018.
